Mandakini is an Indian former actress who has worked in South Indian and Hindi films. She is best remembered for her role in the 1985 film Ram Teri Ganga Maili. She was born in Meerut, India, to an Anglo-Indian family. Her father, Joseph, was English.
At one point, the actress revealed in an interview that she was turned down for her first film role. She was rejected by three film producers. Later, Ranjit Vij approached her, changed her name to Mandakini, and signed up for his film Mazloom.

Mandakini started her career after several failures. She made her directorial debut with Ranjit Vij’s directorial effort Mazloom. Later, she continued acting without looking back.
Mandakini was approached by Raj Kapoor at the age of 22 and signed her to play the female lead in the film Ram Teri Ganga Maili. In the film, Mandakini is seen on screen alongside Rajiv Kapoor, the younger son of Raj Kapoor. Fortunately, the film became a hit and earned her a Filmfare nomination for Best Actress. This was the first victory in her acting career.
Subsequently, Mandakini appeared in semi-nude scenes in two consecutive films, causing huge controversy among the public.
Among her many acting credits, Mandakini is known for appearing in successful films such as: “Dance Dance” with Mithun Chakraborty, “Kahan Hai Kanoon” with Aditya Pancholi, “Pyaar Karke Dekho” with Govinda Ahuja .
Achievement
