Nagesh Bhosle is an up-and-coming Indian film, television and theatre actor. He is also a respected director and producer. He was the director and co-producer of the Marathi film Goshta Choti Dongraevadhi, in which he also played the lead role of Nandu. Nagesh Bhosle has also directed the films Dillit Mujra and Gallit Gondhal and another Marathi film Adgul Madgul.
Nagesh Bhosle was born on 7th August 1960 in Nagpur, India. He started his acting career with theatre. While in college, he used to watch the play Aata Manushya Jagne, in which the famous actor Arun Nalawade competed. He was attracted by the brilliant performance of Arun Nalawade and he became more fascinated with theatre. After that, he acted in the play Kondmara, in which he played the lead role. The play won many accolades and he also won the Best Actor Award. After that, he acted in two more plays and won similar accolades. After that, Nagesh Bhosle decided to settle down in Mumbai in the early 90s. He met a Marathi actor, poet and writer named Mangesh Kulkarn, who told him about the casting of Nagmandala. He auditioned and Bhaskar Chandawarkar nominated him. Nagesh joined an acting workshop at the National Centre for Theatre Arts (NCPA). After Nagmandala, he has been working in Marathi theatre.
In 1997, Nagesh Bhosle stopped performing in commercial Marathi theatre. He got an opportunity to play the role of Kishan Murari in Hasratein which was aired on Zee TV. He made his debut as a film actor through the Marathi film Bangarwadi where he played the role of Daddu Baltya under the direction of Amol Palekar. The film became one of the super hit films of 1997. After that, he appeared in another film of Amol Palekar called Daayra. In 1999, he played a cameo role in the comedy film Bombay Boys. Anurag Kasyap brought him into contact with E. Nivas, the director of the Hindi crime film Shool where he played the role of Sudhir Vinod and the director of the Bollywood thriller Bardaasht. Nagesh Bhonsle has also starred in Hindi films like Sarkar, D, Hostel, Kyon Ki, Shiva, Billu, Lal Salam and Dum. He has also done several Marathi films like Chingi, Duniyadari, Vishwavinayak, etc.
