early life
Robbert van de Corput was born on January 7, 1988 in Breda, the Netherlands.
The son of Anneke and Cor van de Corput, he began taking piano lessons and attending music school at the age of four.
Corput started working as a hip-hop DJ at the age of twelve and recorded his first electronic song at the same time. DJ and producer Tiësto was a big influence on him.
Profession
Robbert van de Corput began studying piano at the age of four and was composing his electronic songs at the age of twelve.
He was inspired by Tiësto, who made him explore more of the commercial EDM scene, paving the way for his success.
Soon after, he was approached by the Dutch producer duo Klubbheads and offered him a record deal with Digidance Records.
Partnering with Tiësto
After signing a record deal with Digidance, he released his first official single “Play It Round”, which gained great popularity in Germany.
A year later, Hardwell and Greatski released the single “Never Knew Love”, which quickly topped the German Official Singles Chart.
At the same time, he also founded his own record label, “Revealed Records”, with the sole purpose of enabling young talents to release EDM.
Every year, he releases a compilation album titled “Hardwell Presents Revealed,” featuring new tracks from the label and Hardwell himself.
In 2011 he signed with the German record label “Kontor Records”, which expanded his audience reach.
That same year, he collaborated with Tiësto on “Zero 76”, the theme song for the “Energy” festival, which reached number one on the Beatport charts.
Hardwell subsequently launched his own podcast, “Hardwell On Air,” to interact with fans, guest on shows, and share new material.
He debuted at number 24 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list, behind Skrillex, for the first time, his second-highest finish ever.
A year later, Hardwell released The Spaceman, which sold over 500,000 copies in the United States and helped popularize the “big room house” genre.
Release documentary
As if that wasn’t enough, he also played festivals including Tomorrowland and Ultra, earning him number six in the DJ Mag Top 100.
In 2013, Hardwell started the “I Am Hardwell” Canadian bus tour with colleagues Dannic and Dyro.
This was done in collaboration with Revealed Records, and the trio, dubbed “Dutch House Mafia,” accompanied him on the rest of the tour.
He released “Apollo” and “Never Say Goodbye”, which were performed at the Tomorrowland and Ultra Fest festivals, attracting audiences of over 80,000 people.
Following the success of the single “Apollo”, Hardwell released the single “Dare You” featuring Matthew Koma.
As his music career continued to develop, his documentary, I Am Hardwell, was released in January 2014. The film chronicles his career and greatest moments.
The message he conveys in the documentary has always been his life motto: “If you can dream it, you can do it.”
In partnership with Chris Jones
Meanwhile, Hardwell and Tiësto have been performing together at Tomorrowland festival for a series of consecutive performances, which have been viewed over 6 million times on YouTube.
At the same time, he also released a new song from the studio album, “Young Again”, sung by Chris Jones.
Following the conclusion of his “I Am Hardwell – United We Are” world tour, he performed alongside Armin Van Buuren at the “Ultra Music Festival” in 2015.
During this time he collaborated with Harrison Shaw on the hit song “Sally”, his first song to enter the German singles chart.
Soon after, he again performed at numerous festivals including Tomorrowland in Brazil and organized the “Biggest Guest List” concert in Mumbai.
A year later, he teamed up with Maan de Steenwinkel for Perfect World, released as part of the casting programme The Voice of Holland.
He teamed up with Afrojack for “Hollywood,” which shot straight to number one on the Beatport charts, and he also teamed up with Kura for the song, which once again topped the charts.
Switch
Hardwell then changed the focus of his music, incorporating hardcore style into it, and created “Don’t Let Me Down” by “The Chain Smokers”.
He played his final show on the “I Am Hardwell – United We Are” tour in August following the release of “Thinking About You,” a collaboration with Jay Sean.
In DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll, Hardwell dropped to third place, surpassed by Martin Garrix, who became the youngest person to ever top the list.
Later that year, he teamed up with Kill the Buzz to release “Break the House Down” and “Party Till the Daylight” as a free birthday gift.
He then released the 300th episode of Hardwell-on-Air, a fantastic episode featuring special guests Don Diablo, Jay Hardway and Suyano.
Most recently, he released the songs “Oldskool Sound” and “Energy,” his first collaboration with the duo “Bassjackers.”
He debuted new collaborations like Blasterjaxx and highlighted young artists signed to Revealed Recordings, like Meirlin, who made her debut during Hardwell’s Ultra show.

“I’ve been through a lot… but if I had to pick one, it would be something very special to finish my first ‘I Am Hardwell’ world tour and sell out Madison Square Garden in New York.” – Haldwell
