Sharmila Tagore, also known as Begum Ayesha Sultana, is a famous Indian film actress. She headed the Indian Film Censorship Board from 2004 to 2011. Sharmila Tagore was nominated as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2005. She was also one of the board members of the Global Competition section of the Cannes Film Festival in 2009.
Sharmila Tagore was born on December 8, 1946, in Hyderabad, India. She married Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, in 1969. They have three children, Saif Ali Khan, Soha Ali Khan and Saba Ali Khan.
Sharmila Tagore made her Bollywood debut in Satyajit Ray’s film Apur Sansar. She was only 14 years old when she played the young wife Aparna in the film.
