Annu Kapoor is a famous Indian film actor, film director, theatre actor, television presenter, television producer, comedian and radio host, known primarily for his work in Bollywood. He is famous for hosting the show Antakshari on Zee TV. Annu Kapoor was born on 20 February 1956 in Itwara, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India.
He made his screen debut in 1979 with Shyam Benegal’s film Mandi. Today, with a career spanning over three decades, he has made his mark in Bollywood films, television serials and reality shows. He is best known for hosting the iconic singing competition Antakshari on Zee TV, directed by veteran director Gajendra Singh.
Annu Kapoor was identified as Anil Kapoor in his debut film, but he eventually changed it to Annu Kapoor to avoid confusion with superstar actor Anil Kapoor. He has played supporting roles, comedians, and villains. He first came to attention for his role as Mr. Gaitonde in the super-hit film Mr. India. Since then, he has been a regular in Bollywood films. His most iconic roles are his role as a neighbor and debt collector in the 2004 super-hit film Raincoat, as well as his role as an obsessive and tormenting sperm doctor in the film Vicky Donor, for which he also won a National Award, and his role as a lawyer in the film Jolly LLB2.
