From coming out to finding love

In April 2021, Colton Underwood came out as gay during an emotional conversation with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, during which he admitted that he had struggled with his sexuality for years and admitted that “for a while, I hated myself and that I was gay.” He came out as gay after his emotional breakup with Cassie Randolph.

After revealing his true feelings, Underwood soon found a partner, Jordan C. Brown, at his resort in Maui, Hawaii. Their relationship quickly blossomed; Underwood publicly admitted his feelings for Brown in an interview with The New York Times, saying he felt both at peace and in love.

Building a life together

The couple formalized their friendship with sweet Instagram posts and holiday celebrations before taking the big step of purchasing a house together in Sherman Oaks, California, in early 2022. Their connection strengthened as they lived together, like celebrating Underwood’s 30th birthday together and sharing intimate moments through social media.

In February 2022, Underwood and Brown got engaged during an intimate getaway in Big Sur, California. “I’m so happy! 2021 was a year of huge change for me. 2022 is starting with my most trusted friend, teammate, and the woman I’ve always wanted to be with!” exclaimed Underwood.

Non-traditional wedding

Underwood and Brown’s wedding was an unforgettable three-day extravaganza filled with laughter, love, and personal details that reflected their unique personalities. The celebrations were accompanied by a performance by the Stanford University synchronized swimming team and a disco-themed wedding pool party. The couple wore custom Tom Ford suits and said their vows in front of 200 guests.

Underwood said of Jordan that she thinks his kind heart and compassionate character are unique in the world. Jordan always goes above and beyond for the people he loves, which speaks for itself!

Preparing for parenthood

From the beginning of their relationship, Underwood and Brown realized they shared a common dream: to become fathers. After a rigorous egg donor testing and screening process, Underwood and Brown now have several frozen embryos that they plan to freeze themselves.

“Our approach is to not let doctors decide which embryo belongs to whom, but to treat each embryo as if it were your own and to build your own family,” Underwood said. “We’re biologically very far away from that — we’re more concerned with building a family.”

A new chapter

Colton Underwood and Jordan C. Brown are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their son, who is due in October 2024. Their journey to fatherhood has demonstrated their love and dedication to building a family, something Underwood observed when reflecting on the bond between Brown and him. Underwood expressed his thoughts, saying, “I love everything we have created so far… the two dogs, our home, this wedding, and more… We have truly come together to form something so well matched and in sync!”
