Has the valuation of Big Bee Little Bee changed since Shark Tank?

Big Bee Little Bee is a company run by mother-daughter duo Amy and Marlo Leinbach. They sell eco-friendly products for kids and adults. Their best-selling products so far are innovative storage boxes, tubes, and scrubbers. Amy and Marlo pitched their business on Shark Tank Season 14 but no deal was made. Big Bee Little Bee is valued at $500,000.

Founder

Amy Leinbach is originally from New York City but moved to Huntington Beach, California to attend Pepperdine University. She studied to be a teacher with a concentration in special education.

As a child, she always dreamed of owning a business and ran a number of imaginary companies, but as Amy grew up, she focused more on voice acting and even starred in Nickelodeon’s Winx Club.

The New York native sees herself in her young daughter, Marlo, who is also an inventor at heart. Like her mom, Marlo was hired as a voice actor at a young age.

Founded Big Bee Little Bee

In addition to teaching and voice acting, Amy had co-founded several businesses in the education field. One day, she had the idea to start another company, but this time she wanted to include her daughter.

In 2016, they launched Big Bee Little Bee, with Amy being the “big bee” and Marlo being the “little bee.” The company’s goal is to create innovative products while reducing the need for single-use plastics. One of their first inventions was the Marker Parker, a honeycomb-shaped marker storage case.

The Leinbachs also invented the Original ScrubBEE (a silicone scrubber) and the replaceable straw Build-a-Straw. In 2019, they won a National Parenting Product Award.

Shark Tank

Amy and Marlo are looking to raise $100,000 in exchange for a 20% stake. Amy proudly reveals that the company had revenue of $230,000 in 2021, with 80% of sales coming from ScrubBEE. This is despite the supply chain issues they have faced this year, resulting in a $77,000 loss so far this year.

The sharks thought the company lacked focus and were concerned about recent losses. Amy seemed to hope that her cute daughter would increase their chances of making a deal. Sadly, none of the sharks were interested. Robert’s cold comment at the end was brutal. “I was going to make you an offer until you start showing us more product.”

After Shark Tank

Although the publicity did not go as planned, the publicity for the show did not hurt them. Unfortunately, not everyone liked the publicity. According to intheknow.com, Amy Leinbach claimed that someone was bullying her young daughter online.
