Laura Innes is a famous American actress and television director. She is best known for her role as Dr. Kerry Weaver on the medical drama ER (TV series, 1997-2007). From 2008 to 2009, she reprized her role from the previous season. She also played Sophia in the short-lived thriller The Affair (TV, 2010-11).

Her father, who often took the family to the Stratford Music Festival in Canada, introduced Laura Innes to a professional theater in Stratford, Ontario. Following his advice to “do what you love,” she studied at Northwestern University and graduated in 1980. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority at the university and earned a degree in theater.

Her first stage work was at Chicago’s famed Goodman Theater and Wisdom Bridge Theatre, where she played Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire. The famous American actor John Malkovich plays Mickey in this work.

She played Miss Andrews in the seventh episode of the second season of the Nickelodeon sitcom Hey Dude (TV, 1989), “Teacher’s Pest”.
