William Levy is a famous Cuban-American actor and former model. His maternal grandfather was Jewish, although he was raised in a secular family. He grew up with his single mother, Barbara Levy. His family, including his brother Jonathan and sister, immigrated to Miami, Florida when he was 14 years old.

He attended Barbara Gorman High School in suburban Miami Lakes. After high school, he studied business management at the University of St. Thomas for two years on a baseball scholarship. He studied acting in Los Angeles and continued in Miami and Mexico City.

Profession

William Levy worked as a model for the Next Models agency and starred in two reality shows broadcast on Telemundo: Isla de la Tentación and Protagonistas de Novela 2. In 2005 he performed at the Centro de Bellas Artes in San Juan, Puerto Rico, starring in the play “La Nena Tiene Tumbao”.

His Univision (Spanish-language channel) debut was in the Venevision International production of Olvidarte Jamás (2005). He subsequently starred in Mi Vida Eres Tu (TV series, 2006) and Acorralada (TV series, 2007). In 2008, he starred in his first Viviana Cordero film Retazos de Vida. His breakthrough in Mexican television came in 2007 when Carla Estrada cast him in “Pasion.”

He later starred in “Cuidado con el Angel” with actress and former RBD singer Maite Perroni. The show premiered in Mexico in June 2008 and began airing on Univision in the United States in September 2008. He starred in Sortilegio (2009) with Jacqueline Bracamontes.

William Levy lent his voice to the Spanish version of the animated film Planet 51 in November 2009. The film was released in Mexico on November 27 and won the 2009 Premios Goya Award for Best Spanish-language Animated Film. From November 2009 to February 2010, he toured many cities in Mexico with the play “Un Amante e la Medida” and toured the United States in June 2010.
