Building a team
At the end of 1979, Eddie Jordan was short of funds, so he founded the Eddie Jordan Racing Team with drivers David Leslie and David Sears.
In 1982 his main driver was James Weaver, who had raced in European F3, before Jordan hired Martin Brundle to replace him.
Brundle finished second to Ayrton Senna in British Formula 3 and remained the star driver until 1987 when Johnny Herbert won the British Formula 3 Championship.
Jordan also joined a Formula 3000 team which won for the first time in 1988 with Martin Donnelly and Johnny Herbert.

1998 was a peak year for the team, with Damon Hill and Ralf Schumacher finishing first and second respectively at the Belgian Grand Prix.

However, Jordan still won the race in Brazil with Giancarlo Fisichella, although it was their last race.
In 2001, Jordan sued Vodafone for breach of sponsorship agreement, but suffered setbacks again and ultimately lost the case.
