Harrison Ford is an American film actor and producer who has an estimated net worth of $230 million. This former carpenter starred in some of Hollywood’s biggest films and became one of the industry’s most bankable stars.
Born in Chicago on July 13, 1942, and raised in a middle-class suburb, he had an average childhood. An introverted loner, he was popular among girls but was picked on by school bullies. Ford silently endured his everyday tortures until one day he lost his temper and beat to death the leader of the gang responsible for repeatedly throwing him off the embankment. He was not particularly fond of movies and usually went to watch them on dates because they were cheap and dark. After high school graduation, Ford studied English and philosophy at Ripon College in Wisconsin. A decidedly lousy student, he began acting while in college and then worked in summer stock for a while. He was expelled from school three days before graduation because he had not completed his required thesis.
In the mid-60s, Ford and his first wife, Mary Marquardt (his college girlfriend), moved to Hollywood, where he signed as a contract player with Columbia and later Universal.
