Jyothika Saravanan is an Indian actress working in the South Indian film industry. She has acted in many Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films. She is an award-winning actress who has won many awards for her outstanding performances.
Profession
She made her Bollywood debut in Priyadarshan’s 1997 Hindi film Doli Saja Ke Rakhna. Her first Tamil film was Vaali (1999) and her first Telugu film was Tagore (2003) opposite Chiranjeevi. She won her first Filmfare Award for Vaali (1999) and won the Best Female Debut Award – South.
She went on to do a series of successful films and rose to fame with her performances in Kushi (2000), Perazhagan (2004), Chandramukhi (2005) and Mozhi (2007).
On September 11, 2006, Jyothika left showbiz at the peak of her career and married Tamil actor Suriya, with whom she was engaged for many years and starred in seven films with Suriya.
After her comeback, she won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress – South for her role in 36 Vayadhinile (2015).
However, despite her stellar performance, the actress did not continue her career in acting. She is still known for her amazing work and performances.
Achievement
Among various awards, the actress has won three Filmfare Awards, three Tamil Nadu Film Awards, four Dinakaran Awards, International Tamil Film Awards, Cinema Express Awards and other awards and nominations. She is also a recipient of the Kalamamani Award. She was named one of the best actresses in South India by the Times of India.
