UPSC Civil Services Exam Final Result: St. Stephen’s alumnus Shruti Sharma is crowned champion, thanks to Jamia Coaching Institute

In the final results of UPSC CSE, all the female candidates have secured top ranks. Ankita Agarwal secured AIR 2, while Gamini Singla of Chandigarh secured 3rd rank.

In the UPSC Civil Services Examination, the final results for 2021 were announced on Monday, Shruti Sharma from Delhi has secured the All India Rank (AIR 1). Overjoyed with his success, Sharma said he was confident of qualifying the UPSC examination but it was surprising to top the merit list.

Sharma hopes to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) to serve the country.

Sharma graduated from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi and joined Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for postgraduate studies. Later, he dropped out of JNU and joined Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi for postgraduate studies. He prepared for the Civil Services Examination at Jamia Millia Islamia Residential Coaching Academy (RCA). A total of 23 candidates, including the top candidates from all over India, qualified for the Civil Services Examination from Jamia Millia Islamia Residential Coaching Academy.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) of India announced the results of the Civil Services Examination 2021 on Monday and Shruti Sharma emerged as the top scorer with All India Rank (AIR) 1, followed by Ankita Agarwal and Gamini Singla from Chandigarh who stood second and third respectively.

History student Shruti Sharma is a resident of Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh. He completed his schooling in Delhi. Sharma is an alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. He later joined Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for postgraduate studies but dropped out of Delhi School of Economics (DSE) to pursue a postgraduate degree.

He is preparing for the Civil Services Examination at Jamia Millia Islamia Residential Coaching Academy (RCA). This year, a total of 23 candidates, including Shruti Sharma, have cleared the Civil Services Examination from Jamia RCA.

Overjoyed with his success, Sharma said he was confident of cracking the UPSC exam but a “beautiful surprise” showed up at the top of the merit list. Sharma hopes to serve the country by joining the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

Sharma said he used to take notes with the help of newspapers while preparing for the civil services exam. He focused on practicing to get better at giving presentations and answering questions.

Sharma said she will accept the responsibility given to her due to her personal interest in education and women empowerment.

Sharma said that the UPSE exam syllabus is too long and requires proper strategies to crack. Candidates not only have to prepare their notes but also review them. Patience is essential for UPSE candidates.

Shruti Sharma’s mother said, “She is very happy with her results. This is a result of her (Shruti) hard work. She has been busy with studies. We let her take a break. She is not very active on social media.”

A total of 685 candidates have been shortlisted for IAS, IPS, IFS and other civil services under the central government of India. Of these successful candidates, 244 are from the general category, 73 from EWS, 203 from OBC, 105 from SC and 60 from ST. The top four positions are occupied by women candidates.

In the final results of UPSC CSE, all female candidates have secured top marks. Ankita Agarwal has secured AIR 2 and Gamini Singla from Chandigarh has secured AIR 3.

Shruti Sharma: An alumnus of St. Stephen’s and Delhi School of Economics AIR1. Shruti Sharma is the top scorer of UPSC 2021 and lives in Bijnor town in Uttar Pradesh. However, he completed his schooling in New Delhi.

Shruti graduated from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi. He then pursued postgraduate studies at the Delhi School of Economics.

She is a graduate student in history, and he has a master’s degree in sociology.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) chairperson Shruti Sharma spoke exclusively to NDTV about her preparation strategy for the exam and said that she would not rely too much on notes from coaching centres but would regularly take notes from newspapers and rely on NCERT books. He had previously said that his “extremely helpful” parents and friends helped him a lot in his preparations, which required a lot of hard work and patience. Ms Sharma, who hails from Delhi and studied at St Stephen’s College, Delhi University, said she did not expect to score such a result and it was a pleasant surprise.

“I couldn’t believe it. I was expecting a positive result but it wasn’t,” he said.

Ms Sharma, a graduate from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), has been preparing for the civil exams for the past four years and was studying at the Residential Coaching Academy, Jamia Millia Islamia College. The RCA, funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC), provides free coaching and accommodation to students from sections such as Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Minorities.
