Although there are so many baby-proofing tools on the market, the things a toddler could bump into are seemingly endless. Table Tyke's silicone placemats come with tableside cushioning, giving parents one less thing to worry about. Berlyn Haughton pitched her product on Shark Tank, but no deal was made. Currently, Table Tyke is worth an estimated $1 million.

It's clear from the show that The Table Tyke was made with a mother's thoughtfulness in mind. This product is designed to protect babies from teething accidents and table edge collisions. This material also protects the surface from the inevitable messes left behind after babies eat.
Berlyn Haughton came up with The Table Tyke after taking care of two little naughty kids at dinnertime. When her children were six months old, they would often bang their mouths on countertops, spilling any food or drink put in front of them.
During this time, Berlyn worked full-time as a remote project manager at AT&T. She held similar positions while working at Direct TV, Erin Condren Design and, most notably, Walt Disney.

The mother-of-two decided to make a teething pad after discovering there were no teething pads available. Since her entire resume consisted solely of corporate jobs, she needed a lot of help getting her business off the ground.
Horton contacted a friend's company to complete her design. Berlyn contacted the owner of Big Bee Little Bee (a Shark Tank alum) to find out where to find the best manufacturers of silicone products.
The aspiring entrepreneur obtained the first samples and launched a website in 2020. She also signed up for a TikTok account, not expecting anything big. However, her first video garnered over 300,000 views, which was just the beginning of her viral success.
After Shark Tank
Since her episode aired on “Shark Tank,” Horton revealed to the Business Journal that she placed two emergency orders with manufacturers a week after the show aired. She has received more than 100 kind messages from fans, and the company expects revenue to reach $200,000 by 2024. This will double last year's sales of $100,000.
In addition to TheTableTyke.com and its TikTok store, the products can now be found on Amazon and Etsy. The regular price for a placemat is $24.99. This baby proofing tool has an average of 4.3 stars out of 151 customer ratings on Amazon. However, some reviews indicate that this product needs better suction as it slips on some surfaces.
Berlyn Haughton aims to double the company's annual revenue by 2022. But by the end of that year, she had achieved more than four times her original goal. According to Precedence Research, the global baby safety product market is worth more than $255 billion, with North America being the largest market. Additionally, Horton could sell her product to rehabilitative care facilities, not just parents.
If the patent-pending Table Tyke continues to offer and potentially introduce new products, it could be acquired by a household name in the baby products space. Even if the business fails, licensing a product can be a lucrative opportunity.
