Upen Yadav, a social worker, is a face of Rajasthan and is often seen in newspaper headlines or on hunger strikes, debating on television with the youth. Upen Kumar Yadav, president of the Rajasthan State Unemployed Federation, is the voice of the unemployed and youth in Rajasthan. They often speak up for the youth of the state, demanding on-time government recruitment, a check on recruitment malpractices and better rules for examinations.

Upen Yadav is an unemployed social worker and the president of the Rajasthan Unemployed Relief Association. His age is about 30 years. He is a student leader and speaks for the interests of the youth. Upen has been speaking for the rights of the unemployed in Rajasthan for the past 9 years and he is the current president of the Unemployed Federation. In 2015-16, he had to eat the police stick and bled.
Both the BJP and Congress governments in the state have repeatedly jailed them for their protests, sit-ins and hunger strikes, and have also taken action several times by directing the police to remove them from their homes.

In the past few years, under the pressure of the movement, the state governments have had to succumb to their demands every time. In the 2019 by-elections, the Congress government had to accept their demands under pressure as the candidates fielded unemployed candidates and opposed the Congress.
Counter-accusation
Both the previous BJP government and the current government of Ashok Gehlot have attacked the Federation of Unemployed and Upen Yadav, which acted as a pressure group in Rajasthan. If the current government calls him a front of BJP, during the BJP government, he was called a Congress man.
This matter was not hushed up, but Ashok Gehlot made such allegations openly in front of the media. In this regard, Upen Yadav said, “The previous government used to suppress our voice by calling us MPs. Yadav also said that our movement is not driven by any political motive, we were forced to come to Uttar Pradesh, we were in Jaipur for 44 days, our government did not listen to us, so we came to meet Priyanka Gandhi. Responding to the allegations of planning to participate in the elections, Upen said that if you accept the demands of the youth, I will leave the country, then there will be no question of participating in the elections.

Documentary “Dastaan e Berojgar”
On October 14, 2016, Upen Yadav shot a short film on the condition of unemployed people in Rajasthan. The short film showed the terrible system of government recruitment. As soon as the recruits left, they were controversial and were stuck in court.
When the youth demanded the completion of these unfinished recruitments, they were beaten by the police with batons. The film also includes real-life scenes of unemployed people being brutally beaten by the police on October 9, 2015. Through this documentary, people call for timely employment of the unemployed and improvement of the recruitment system.
