Jay Shetty was born in London to Indian parents. He was shy and quiet as a child, but always wanted to make the world a better place. At the last minute, he received a speaking invitation from a monk, and his life changed dramatically. Around that time, Jay Shetty began to think about the true meaning of success and how to achieve it. He wanted to live a fulfilling and happy life of serving and influencing others. However, he had a hard time balancing these goals with his college plans. While in school, Jay Shetty lived with monks in India during breaks and learned a lot from them.

Even so, he still had a desire to make a huge difference in the lives of those around him. He was not sure whether his degree was in line with his goals. So Jay Shetty decided to become a Hindu monk and travel around India and the UK for three years. He gave up his clothes for robes, shaved his head and began to live a simple life. Waking up at 4 am, taking cold showers and eating less became the norm for him. Through hard work and meditation for up to 8 hours a day, Jay Shetty learned about ancient consciousness and breathing practices and immersed himself deeply in Eastern sciences and beliefs that have stood the test of time.
