Neetu Chandra is a famous Indian film actress, theatre artist and film producer. She is also a renowned classical dancer and energetic athlete who is very interested in improving the level of basketball in the country with her close association with Taekwondo and NBA and is a fourth degree black belt holder. Neetu Chandra has her own production company Champaran Talkies and has won a National Award for the film Mithila Makhaan. This National Award winning film was produced by her brother Nitin Chandra. Neetu’s younger brother is named Abhishek Chandra who is a famous fashion designer in Hindi films.
Neetu Chandra was born on 20 June 1984 in Patna, Bihar. She attended Marist College, Patna and did her undergraduate degree from Indraprastha College, Delhi. She started her career as a model and attributes her fame to her mother, a native of East Champalam, Bihar, India. Since graduation, Neetu Chandra has starred in several videos and television commercials for many brands.
She made her Bollywood debut in the year 2005 with the film Garam Masala, in which she played the role of Sweety. She also acted in the Telugu film Godavari in 2006. In 2007, Neetu Chandra also acted in the film Traffic Signal, directed by Madhur Bhandarkar.
In 2008, Neetu Chandra had four films released, directed by Rahul Dholakia, Dibakar Banerjee, Vikram and Ashwini Dheer. In 2009, she starred in the Tamil film Yavarum Nalam, co-starring Madhavan, which was a huge success. In 2010, Neetu starred in three Hindi films, Apartment, Rann and No Problem, in which she performed well. In 2011, the film Deswa, produced and directed by Neetu’s brother, was released. In 2013, she co-starred with Jayam Ravi in the Tamil film Ameerin Aadhi Baghavan. Neetu Chandra has finally been cast in the Greek film Home Sweet Home, in which she plays an Indian girl. For this film, she had to be familiar with the Greek language and dubbed the film herself. She has two Hindi films coming up, Shooter and Kusar Prasad Ka Bhoot.
Neetu Chandra is also the brand ambassador of Gitanjali brand Hoop. She has also appeared in the advertisements of Mysore Sandalwood Soap. Neetu has also acted in a music video titled “Rasiya Saajan” along with Zubeen Garg. She is an active member of the International Film and Television Club and the International Film and Television Research Centre of the Asian Academy of Film and Television Arts.
